I think you are better off buying dell XPS system.Really.
A water-cooling system is powered externally through A/C, and no way on Earth would the LED/UV lights in the casing raise the power supply requirement to 1 kW unless you are operating some army-grade laser gun in it. If you have one, please point it at his head and ask him whether 1kW really is the minimum.Originally posted by MyPillowTalks:Firstly he also thought i am a overclocker.....cos i told him about 2.4 too slow, budden he say for my combination, 1000W is minimum, also maybe it is becos of the casing i wanna get, i say if put watercool plus lights
i kena conned by him liaoOriginally posted by LatecomerX:A water-cooling system is powered externally through A/C, and no way on Earth would the LED/UV lights in the casing raise the power supply requirement to 1 kW unless you are operating some army-grade laser gun in it. From 2.4 to 3 is safe as long as there is sufficient ventilation for the casing.
wah,........i wanna get quad coreOriginally posted by Manager433:Pillow bought your pc liao? My DIY pc:
Mainboard
Asus P5KR P35 chipset @ $235
CPU
C2D 4600, 2.4ghz @ $220
RAM
2 X 1GB Patriot PC 6400/800 DDR2 @ $35 ea. Get this one coz it have a side metal heatsink for better cooling
VGA
Asus EAH 2600XT 256mb DDR 3 @ $165
PSU
CoolerMaster RealPower 650W @ $190
No need to get 1000w psu. Its too overkill.
scared too expensiveOriginally posted by LatecomerX:Consider a 22" Samsung or LG ba.
Your current system lags during multitasking probably because of the CPU and not due to the lack of RAM.
wah.. think of LCD.. at the rate the screen size and gfx develop.. i think next time we have 50in LCD moniter lolOriginally posted by LatecomerX:Consider a 22" Samsung or LG ba.

A good 22" Samsung or LG LCD monitor would cost you around $450 - $600. I would suggest cutting down on the PSU budget to spend on a good screen instead. Try going for a PSU manufactured by FSP, Enhance, SeaSonic or SilverStone in the range of $160 - $240.Originally posted by MyPillowTalks:scared too expensive
Our eyeballs can't grow that big la.Originally posted by manyu882:wah.. think of LCD.. at the rate the screen size and gfx develop.. i think next time we have 50in LCD moniter lol
Of course i would take XP proffessional, if not my camcorder, printer, handphone, everything would not work
So how is your new pc set up?
Aiyoh so troublesome. Get an iMac. Everything settled =D

But many games and software are not compatible with Macs wor. I think mainly graphic designers and office users would go for them. And of course, for those who want to make heads turn when surfing the net at a public cafe as well.
haven get PC, see after new year, anything would drop the price or not, and DDr2 RAM going up
and i intent to buy a 20" TV to use as monitor, cheaper then wadt the shop is selling
if get alienware lappie go cafe all will turn head....then one will run over and grab my lappie and run away
i guess you had all the answer ... i feel that 1000 watt power supply would be for server that need to drive many harddisk drive like a raid system ... other then that for a home pc you really don't need that kind of power with just a single harddisk in your computer casing ...
er........
is Gigabyte x38 DQ6 a high end mainboard? nt entry level hor?
then 8800GT is not louya one right? compared to GTS
is $230 for antec 900 too expensive? cos i saw other shop selling @ $205

Just an advice to TS,
DON'T GET VISTA, YOU WILL REGRET IT.
Why XP?
1) Better compatibility with (Old or New) softwares/games.
2) Better performances.
3) No irritating 'Are you sure you want to continue' dialog everytime you run every single program.
4) Better user-friendlyness.
5) Vista operating system sucks to the core.
6) The perception of vista is that the operating system really does suck.
Yes, I know Vista service pack 1 is releasing soon and after that it might improve. So is XP, it going to release service pack 3 soon. Tests* have shown that the service pack 1 improvement to vista is not overwhelming.
Vista's performance with the service pack increased less than 2 percent compared to performance without SP1--much lower than XP's SP3 improvement of 10 percent.
A year after its launch, only 13 percent of businesses have adopted Vista, according to a survey of IT professionals.
One real life scenario - My friend, who is using vista (despite me telling him not to get it), having alot of problem running programs on his computer (he bought his desktop last year). He learnt his lesson and is planning to get his laptop to run XP when he buy one this year for poly.
Majority of the companies and consumers haven't yet moved to vista, why should you?

*Tests are based on beta version, but i doubt there will be any big improvement on the final version.
we all know

Do you think a $480 mobo would be entry level then?
For the GFX card, it depends on which revision of GTS you are comparing with. The G92 one for the 8800GTS 512MB model performs better than the 8800GT 512MB card.

I'm not sure if the Antec casing is overpriced or something, but if you look around 5 or 6 shops and they are selling around that price, then you shouldn't be pretty far from the "correct" price. Anyway, if you see that another shop was selling for $205, why not use that to bargain with your retailer you are dealing with for a lower price?
no more GTS
onli left GT......
so that means the dq6 can considered higher end liaO?
but it still cannot sli....dunno wad intel are thinking
im planning to wait for the nvidia 9800GX2
like powerfull lea
