i've always tot that the min u lost ur HP, u cancel the line immediately is a common sense....
anyway, TS, either u wait for lawyer letter, and u go find lawyer to win the case (very slim chance) or u pay lor....
unless u have every proof to show that u did lose ur HP at say.. 11pm..
anyway, which idiot will return u ur hp??

My brother is a lawyer, and once my erratic cousin did not pay up the charges to Sunpage for paging services, and they sent a lawyer's letter. My brother basically told my uncle to ignore the letter, coz they won't take him to court due to a few hundred dollars, its not worth the effort and its bad publicity. -

They know alot of Singaporeans kiasi, once they see letter is from lawyer, they will all be cowed into paying. Like I said before most Singaporeans don't know anything about their rights or legal entitlement.
It cost money to submit a writ of summons, maybe less than a $1,000. But finally if you decide to pay after they submit the writ, they end up losing the $1,000 because they can't claim back the money for the writ. -
TS, you cant win singtel de unless you cancel line and dont pay up.
If not everyone will make a call to United states for 10hours and then call singtel and said they lost their hp 10hours ago. -

I think it's just business sense. If everyone wants to delay their bills, how are they going to survive?

No one in their right frame of mind would get engaged a lawyer to bring this matter to court and get a lawyer's letter and rake up an additional few thousand dollars, just to bring this up to the police to investigate in a bid to trace and get back your phone. Ridiculous! Whoever suggested this must be an imbecilic moron!
Whatever tracing technology the police uses needs the IMEI no., but how many can remember or even bothered to take it down? And I supposed TS didn't. So whoever said this is - once again, the biggest idiot among all idiots. -

The only companies that pays for ur irresponsibility are Insurance firms.
U can always cut ur line and restore it. Just treat 500$ as a punishment. U'll remember ur lesson well.
The police does not affiliate themselves with minor crimes like theft of wallet w/o IC in side. U cant blame. Every police in the world prolly does that. Smart move. The chance of finding ur phone back and the culprit is nxt to zero. Even if it happened at school. Worse if u lost it in public.
If u tot abt shoplifting, the guards are hired to prevent that. -

$500 is punishment when someone lost his handphone and probably is under emotional trauma? When I lost my phone, M1 was really nice and really helped to take care of me. That's why till today I am with M1.

My cousin had the lawyer's letter with Sunpage asking my uncle to pay up the bill PLUS the fee for getting the lawyer to write the letter for Sunpage.
My brother just told my uncle to ignore them.

You need to call them immediately after realizing that you've lost your phone. This is pure common sense alright.

I'll assume that you'll call me up immediately after knowing that you have lost your phone and at the instance where you've canceled your line, you'll not need to undertake any responsibility for the subsequent calls for they are assumed not be to made by you.
It's common sense again.
You have no proof that your phone was missing and that you didn't make calls to the countries that you've stated whereas Singtel has proof that the calls made prior to your line cancellation were made by you.

Again to enforce your lack of common sense,
anyone with an unsound mind could call Singtel up at 12am to cancel his/her line after he/she has been making numerous overseas calls or numerous downloading of music,wall papers and games into their mobile phone.
Repeat after me..I will use my common sense after this incident ( apparently you are not repeating.. do it as it's for your own good and for the good of your future generations)
