Where to buy technical books on programming?

  will have lecturer notes one. if need extra info, can borrow from library or sch library.
  
  normally first year cover basic.. 2nd year cover a little more advance.. third year choose your expetise in area.

  If u are so poor and desperate, just DL them over p2p..... since most ppl come with a e-version cd these day, most ppl wont even hesitate to upload them online. I prefer to have both of it normally, coz it is a pain in the arse to learn off some 300-500 pages of info off the computer. But if it is only section on the book u need, e-version is better due to the search function.
  
  Other then that, I hate to be rip off after spending month and year to come up with a 500pages book only to have some cheapo taking it free online. Support the author if u can, else try to do that when u are able to in the future. I am a believer that knowledge are meant to be share for the greater good then for monetary. But still, one have to eat.

  My course... basic VB + basic to intermediate Java, some PHP and ASP.NET.
  
  Try Orchard Kinokuniya. Saw lots of them there. But it's quite expensive. I see the price, I dizzy already.
  
  If you take server courses... there will be some scripting for Linux + VBScripting for Windows servers.

  I got the eBook version for these three, and have read first few chapters of the second book, and printed out and read the first seven chapters of the third. Although I have not read up the first book, it was said to be the best among all JS books. Found them to be very useful and detailed indeed. I will be getting them after CNY, I guess.

  Yes... desktop is just desktop.
  
  Scripting for servers is another different thing. Mainly for managing desktops and servers.

  All web designing books...NLB has a lot of those...lazy to travel can use their reservation service to collect at a branch near you...$1.55 per book.
  
  alternatively...online also has a lot of materials on the topic...I dont think you really need to buy.
