Need some help on video codec

I downloaded a .mkv video file
When i play it , the audio was working perfectly all right
but the video was like play then hanged (skipped frame) the resume
resume after hanged will able to see green square around (pixel?) for awhile , play and hang , and the process repeats for the whole movie
Check some forums , they advise to use videoinspector to scan video file
okay , i done that and i got a detail tell me i need V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
i went around net to download it but cant find , anyway im not sure what is it also
so how should i go about do it ? Thx -

For most people, open source means free of charge without technical support. Hmm...I have only installed the CCCP vid codec for my own use, and since then I can play 99% of the vids I have downloaded, so I can't really comment much. Just don't go around downloading codecs as many of them are chucked with malware. Wait for the experts in codecs to reply ba. They should be coming in any time soon.

uninstall all the codec that you have, and use either CCCP or k lite
and try not to install too many player also, because it can also have conflict also
try opening the file with MPC player, vlc is known to have problem, it is a over rated player, even gom player is better than vlc
if the video is corrupted, then you can't even open the file at all, next time, just use g spot to test the video -
ok , i give it a try and i tell you if it works
anyway the mkv vid i downloaded youtube also have
but only 2 part , the opening and ending part are missing

now is the whole video working too slow (sorry i dont know how to explain in tech terms)
the video and audio are slow , the play pause play pause kind , shd i say the video frame is too slow , anyway to fix it ? -

just now the video lag i tried increase rate
although now is faster , but is still a little bit slower than real movement
when i increase rate again , it start go too fast
anyway to fix it -

the file that you have downloaded, might been corrupted, usually the problem i encounter with mkv file is, the timing isn't set properly...

Do you have core avc?
i think CCCP should have core avc ah, i think your decoder has issue ah, use core avc and see whether it can solve your problem or not
if CCCP don't have core avc, then download k lite, and it will have core avc in it -

it is best to uninstall all the old codec pack which is k lite and CCCP, then reinstall k lite, please don't install divx codec as well,
K lite is good enough already, and don't install too many player as well, because real player will clash with MPC also
