Old files...strikes back

  Well recently i reformated my com(again) using the start up screen..then F10 or something..return to the "factory"mode.
  
  Recently i realised, when scanning my com, the anti virus is still able to scan my old files..such as my old photo folders, which should have already been gone since i reformated the com.
  
  Any one have any idea why's this happening ?

  did u have 2 drives? like C: and D:
  
  you could have saved the files at D: and reformatted C: which is usually the OS is (most of the time..depends on the user)
  
  thats why they are still around?

  there is 2 type of reformatting.. one is completely destroy all ur files and restore back to the OS... the other 1 is just uninstall .exe but files all remains...
  
  or in another case u have 2 Drive..

  yeah..i do have drive C and drive D...but i thought drive D only stores the recovery files and stuff ?
  
  Hm, and i used the "reformat" @ the windows start up page(with the Windows XP, then the blue bar loading..then they have stuff @ the bottom like )

  when u reformat...i think u only overwrite C:
  
  Recovery files are stored in C:/i386

  oh...so how do i get rid of those " old files " ? or can i just ignore them?

  emm.. u restart ur pc.. press f10.. other then the option u got from reformatting.. see fi there is another option like an arrow or wad ever.. that may completely destroy the old files.. like my pc its say system recovery and "dynamic restore" some think like that.. different brand have different restore..

  The main question still is
  
  where did u store your old photos/files?
  
  if u had stored them at D:, of course when u reformat your OS which is install at C:
  
  it will only overwrite C: and leave D: alone

  1. delete your OS partiton and install again

  i didnt have this page lol...mine was just F10 and no other options other than reformating..

  then i think u have to use the OS disc provided for ur pc.. can u tell me what pc model u are using and what brand

  What's the brand of your PC?
  
  I know HP and Compaq will do a complete wipe of your C drive if you use the Recovery option. Because I wiped mine not too long ago and couldn't recover any files.
  
  Other companies will have different policies on how they are going to restore back the system back to factory state.
  
  And where are those files located?
