for eg u working in one of the branch of a company using the computer to do transactions and play music only,then if u bring thumbdrive and play movies on the windowmedia player of that computer can the company headquaters see what u are doing??provided internet connection is always on..??but i dont see any "special tracking program" installed on that computer..

depends on how zai the IT dept is loh
whether the company got allocate the IT budget to install tracking systems or not
but general things like which website u go, wat u download, easily can check one
of cos, user wun know one -

Can. In my company, only managers and aboved are given special passwords to surf the internet, by using the co pc. So when some of them misused this, causing the intranet to slow down. Email send out by the IT dept 'warn' them not to 'over do it' or will take actions .

1. Your thumbdrive is clean
2. You do not install things without the company's permission and
3. You do not watch during working time,
Most companies wouldnt mind you doing such things. We are all humans ma
But they can track if they have the necessary software and manpower... to me its redundant to do so, cos its a waste of time and resources. -

Unless you are working in an IT company, I think you need not worry about this ba. I think WMP saves a history of files played, so you may want to run a media player program from your thumbdrive instead. And if there's any special tracking program, chances are you won't know it. I know a lot of US companies do that. In Singapore, I'm not sure of the situation.
If you are from an MNC... especially one from the Europe or US... most likely will have some sort of tracking programs in place.
Also... Windows keeps a record of what you do... even if you tell it not to. Half a year of doing forensics tells me that. -

They can also track your msn conversation, with who, what time, talk about what.
If they want, they can even find out the password you entered in your email unless you using HTTPS.
That is why I bring my M1 broadband device to work everyday. If anything confidential, take out my "anti-CIA" device.
