I open up the box ( this set bought one month ago ) and cannot find any warranty card damn! Receipt also dun know throw where. Last confirmation. I can burn CD/VCD but not DVD at all. I will try other brand of disc when I buy them asap. If really cannot, the LG set will drop from 8th floor to ground floor.Originally posted by LatecomerX:I using LG 18x with TDK DVD+R 16x. LG not that bad la (self-consolation). Get a DVD-RW from other brands to test first. If still cannot, just tell the retailer what you have done to confirm that the drive is faulty then change to another drive of the same or other models de lo. If the 7-day 1:1 exchange period is over, then you'll have to use the warranty, I guess.
Nope. It burns straight away. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes.Originally posted by Really mama?:Does it test burn before burning? Some software like nero burn a little to calibrate the lasers. This usually means power calibration error for poor quality dvds. like TDK
How long does a 8x speed dvd takes to burn? On Nero, it took around 10mins and on DeepBurner, it takes nearly an hour Im using pioneer.
I don't think the format of the disc affects its longevity. It's more on the quality of the materials used by the manufacturer to produce the discs.Originally posted by MooKu:Really?
Data on a DVD+R disc lasts longer than that on a DVD-R?
I've been using a pile of Philips DVD-Rs I was given and I wrote down the date which I burned the data onto each disc, cos my Sony CD-RWs went blank after a year.
You live at which block? I go catch the drive.Originally posted by Manager433:I open up the box ( this set bought one month ago ) and cannot find any warranty card damn! Oh wow woo ok. Thanks a lot.Originally posted by LatecomerX:I don't think the format of the disc affects its longevity. It's more on the quality of the materials used by the manufacturer to produce the discs.
Re-writables are not recommended for long-term storage (over 6 months) due to some issue regarding chemical reactions with the dye used (check google on that), with the exception of DVD-RAM.
Not unless some virus wipes it out or somebody accidentally format it or some disaster happens.Originally posted by MooKu:Oh wow woo ok. Thanks a lot.
Data doesn't disappear on portable hard drives, does it?
