  just wondering, who is able to tell me what do i look out for, when buying a HDD, besides the obvious ones, like size, and capacity?
  
  and does anyone have a good HDD to recommend? looking for one around $120
  
  i'm considering anyone of the links above, can help vote which one you think is the best?

  What do you want your HDD to be? I see no need for HDD that can play videos.
  
  A 3.5 inch HDD is a good addition if you need extra space at home. Nowadays 250GB are also cheap.
  
  A 2.5 inch HDD is much more portable, but comes at the expense of a slower data transfer rate. 80GB cost below $100 i think.
  
  Just go to Sim Lim square and ask those computer shop experts there. They will give you a good deal

  if you want a really portable one i suggest u take the 160gb 2.5'' hdd with enclosure @$128 checkout in video pro

  This is more of an urban legend :S
  
  If you scared then go to the more reputable stores like Bell, Fuwell or Bizgram lor. I havent encountered any scamming so far in Sim Lim anyways.

  I think they only scam tourists. So if you look like an ang moh, get a SG geek-looking friend to go with you.

  They don't scam just foreigners hor. If you know nothing, be prepared to be tok.
  
  Some shops think you look like you know nothing about tech... so will try to fool you. Particularly those selling cameras and selling laptops.

  video pro okok la.. what we must concern is the price and brand of product. and make sure you get your warrenty card and reciept after buying.
  
  if you want good customer service and dont mind paying another few dollars.. u can try fuwell.

  i got a seagate one, 500gb, for two hundred and fifty. that was about three months ago.

  cos such shop operate until cost price basis... as long as got earn $, sure sell.
  
  well, for chio bu maybe the bengs will go rock bottom price like earn a few bucks and then sell... maybe freebies would be those items that they did not give their customers when they purchase the thing lor...
