I have uninstalled Norton Internet Security, but it still happens.
Affirmative it only happens when I open My Computer, even when I am not running it.
Explorer is Windows GUI. To put it simply, it's Windows clothes. Close that and you are just left with your desktop wallpaper.

since ur laptop is quite new...use recovery disc and do complete recovery and see if U get the same problem...better solve the issue now than to wait until U have lots of files...
Ok I'll do that. When I run in safe mode right, the problem doesn't recur.
probably one of the libraries causing u problems. Do you get any warning or critical errors on ur event viewer?

Because I doubt if those files are loaded into explorer as compared to when you are using it in Normal Mode. In Normal Mode, more files are loaded. Safe Mode, only the bare minimum.
