  using proxy.org i was not able to search for the song that i search on the first page.

  I think your theory is plausible, but that would mean lots of work on Baidu side.
  
  Singnet's IP addresses are huge.
  
  116.x.x.x
  121.x.x.x
  220.255.x.x
  165.x.x.x (this may not be so big)
  
  There's also another range, 220 something, something like the 3rd range
  
  Two questions strike me:
  
  1. How searching for 5566 songs managed to pass through
  2. Why PacNet users are affected
  
  The second one I may have an answer. Singnet is an upstream ISP while PacNet is a downstream ISP.
  
  This could result in a big block.
  
  To have such a big block... and affected only Singnet and Singnet related customers... something is really wrong.
  
  I wonder if politics play a part this time. If it does... Singapore is really ............ up. Fill in the blank yourself.
  
  And... an explanation for the VPN issue and proxy issue.
  
  1. VPN doesn't work. Not my school's, not 3rd party.
  
  2. Anonymous proxies don't work.
  
  3. TOR doesn't work.
  
  VPN traffic is encrypted, I don't believe a server is able to tell my real IP address. There are softwares to bypass proxies... that answers question 2. Maybe TOR as well... there are various vulnerabilities...

  Actually, I was thinking that Baidu was blocking overseas traffic on their search page, so the question here would be, how did StarHub get through the block?
  
  It can't be ISP-specific since even foreign (as in not in SG) web proxies couldn't get pass the block. And blocking traffic based on countries does not really require much effort since there are IP address databases out there like GeoIP.
  
  Meanwhile, if anyone here has some free time on hand, please look for China and Taiwan anonymous HTTP/web proxies to play with Baidu.

  Add stupid to the list as well Block or no block its still useless cause we can still dld songs via the song listings

  Maybe boss of Starhub is a China Chinese?
  
  I doubt if Taiwan proxies will work. They are enemies in politics, and China Great Wall won't hesitate to block any IP ranges from there..

  Just only Baidu. Not other sites. As far as I'm aware, only Baidu is affected.
