Imation thumb drive error

  I have a Imation thumbdrive.Have been using it for abt 3months but only recently,something seems to be wrong with it.
  
  Whenever i plug it into my pc,it does not auto play.When i click the drive in 'my computer' ,it prompts : Choose the program you want to use to open the this file. I dare not anyhow press so just cancel.
  
  But when i tried using explore,it works.I can access all my files.
  
  Tried scanning for virus but none was found,have also tried on several computers also same thing.
  
  Is my thumb drive damaged?

  [*]Please download Flash_Disinfector and save it to your desktop.
  [*]Double click to run it.
  [*]You will be prompted to plug in your flash drive. Plug it in.
  [*]Flash_Disinfector will start disinfecting your flash and hard drives. This takes a few seconds. Your desktop will disappear in the meantime.
  [*]When done, a message box will appear. Click OK. Your desktop should now appear. If it doesn't, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  [*]Click on File > New Task (Run...). Type in explorer.exe and press Enter. Your desktop should now appear.

  Will this format my datas in my thumbdrive?
