Buying Notebook, need comment.

For IBM, only the T-series are good. The rest of the labels are the same as buying any other laptop.
And Fujitsu is like paying $1500 for its brand name

Any series from Lenovo - it's under Lenovo name. Be prepared that it won't last, like Acer.
Those that still have the Thinkpad logo - you can be assured that it will last. However... you would pay a rather high price for a not so good laptop... you don't pay as much for the brand name, but for all the quality assurance that all Thinkpads must go through. -

Apple MacBook = VERY expensive and not very good specs. Not very high quality either. You are just paying for Mac OS X
Dell = Big Heat Issues Problems
Toshiba = Heat Issue

Hate the hardware.
Powerbook - Long history of overheating, Fan noise, white line on LCD monitor
Macbook Pro - LCD Monitor, dead pix/white lines.
Now another new problem. Leopard vs Mac OSX vs Hardware.
But not as bad as Vista PCs still!!! -

I would recommend Fujitsu laptops..
I have not use one before but it's made in Japan so it must be reliable..just my humble opinion
Of course it's not cheap but with yr budget, you should be able to get a good one..
