I can't detect my new slave HDD

I getting headache...
I set top as master and btm as slave for my ide hitachi HDD... but can't detect the slave HDD...
I put the master at the end of the 40pin cable and the slave at the middle of the cable...
I also have a CD rom and a DVD rom...
anything I missed out... -

have you gone into BIOS to check if your BIOS detected it?
if yes, have you gone into computer management and format it? -

It may be that the disk is unformatted. Check under Control Panel > Computer Management and see if there is an unformatted volume.

What model is your Hitachi Hard Disk?

I checked device management and computer management and it says it detects the new hard disc...
so now I'm here...
what should I do now? -
Select the drive and right click your mouse.
If it's a new drive (with no data), you need to partition the drive and format it.
If the drive already has data in it, then just add it. -

Open My Computer. Right click and select Refresh.
Can you see it?
If no, restart your computer. -

You have not given the volume a drive letter. There should be an option for that if you right-click that green thing.
