Cant answer this question. Those with carbon fiber casing will be alot sturdier. Magnesium Alloy one will be slightly stronger than plastic and cools the laptop faster.

And why dont you buy an external HDD. 2.5 inch 80GB now cost less than $100.

Last time, when i was in the army, 4 IBM thinkpads spoilt within 6 months due to moistures in the air. We put the laptop outside on field trip.
