Thats the message which appear on my PC whenever i want to log in. I doesn't allow me to log in directly after i have keyed in my username and password.
Only recently then i get the knowledge that my Windows is not genuine as its not been installed by me. Very frustrating to have this icon keep coming out will using the pc. Is there anyway to get rid of this?

You can report to Microsoft if you were sold a copy of windows that is not genuine. Your problem sounds like a counterfeit Vista. You may be able to get it to work by removing any menu.lst files you may have created.
Or use Super Grub Disk to FIX your MBR. -
XP or Vista?
You can get a free copy of either Windows version if you can proof that it's a high-quality counterfeit good.
Usually they check these 2 criteria:
1. Same exact Windows XP/Vista packaging
2. Hologram
Bring your CD and show them. If it's not high enough, they give you discounts. -
My PC is being fixed up by my cousin's friend...so i don't know its exact contents...any way to end that without the need to get back to Microsoft? Thanks

if XP u need to do some tweaks that actually bluff the windows that ur is a genuine one, that is called a crack....

If he used his own CD on your PC, you will get that error. One license key per computer.

If you have your own CD, reformat and reinstall. You should have no problems. If you don't have, the choice is yours (pirated or legal). Just one thing to remember, as Microsoft patches, they create bugs and these are released as hotfixes or important updates. Pirated Windows can't get hotfixes or important updates. If your Windows crashes and need those fixes... you can't get. -
XP can bypass WGA (the ActiveX that Windows Update install), but you can't fool Microsoft. They got other components. Ever notice that they will check if your Windows is legal during installation for some programs? Nope. Vista easier to pirate. Best part is, the WGA WILL think its genuine. I think if you have your own license key, you can use your cousin's cd to install but key in your own license key that can be found on you PC.
But I not very sure... never tried out before. -

Anyway, it's not so easy to pirate Vista... it's a pretty tight system. Anything that Vista doesn't like... you can be prepared that it will crash anytime. -
