  Do you think this is a good book to buy? Currently my java skills is somewhere between beginner and intermediate.
  
  I checked another that sells the book at $46USD which comes to about less than $100SGD including shipping.

  What do you think? Is it worth it to buy or is there a much better book out there?

  I always start with Beginning series books by Wrox.
  
  They are red in colour, with human faces as the cover page. Hard to miss, but they are quite expensive.
  
  Another series of books which I start with is The Complete Reference of XXX (XXX is the subject).
  
  White in colour. They are usually very thick.
  
  If I can't find such books... I will just take any book, read through the first few chapters. If it's easy enough to understand, then I will use it.

  i think if u have no knowledge or very very little knowledge in programming, then u need a book to guide u along..
  
  else if u aldy have experience in programming, & sometimes u may need help, just search online.. or java api.. or go lib & look for reference book wil be enuf..
