Acer Travelmate 6292 Windows vista to Xp

  Hi bros/sis,
  
  I just bought a Acer Travelmate 6292 notebook that came preloaded with windows vista premium.
  
  However,i wana reformat it to install windows xp which i already bought.Tried to reformat to install XP but it prompt :
  
  " Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
  
  Make sure any Hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected in your computer, and that any disk related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program.
  
  Setup cannot continue, To quit setup press F3."
  
  Does that mean i cant install XP?I have downloaded all drivers for windows xp for my model.
  
  Also,if say i reformat to windows xp,i wont be able to use the recovery CD in future right?Cos i have yet to create the recovery cd and was wondering if i should create it anot since i am going to reformat it to windows xp.
  
  Care experts give me some suggestions?

  According to the above link, two versions of Vista are available.
  
  Is Home Premium installed or Business installed?
  
  If Home Premium is installed, you cannot move to XP in this direct manner.
  
  If Business is installed, you could. Call up Acer and ask if they have downgrading services available.
  
  Either way, download any Linux distributions, burn it to a CD and install. This will wipe out Vista. After that, install XP.
  
  Make sure you set your CD/DVD drive as the first boot device.

  You won't be able to once everything is wiped out.

  Yes.It came preloaded with windows vista Home premium.

  Any distributions except the Slackware based. Unless you are very familiar with Command Prompt.
  
  Puppy Linux is small enough, just get that and wipe off Vista.
  
  If you like Puppy Linux, then can stay with it.
