Unable to boot com to windows, not even safe mode.

  It show this error right at the beginning
  
  Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
  \system32\hal.dll.
  Please re-install a copy of the above file.
  
  What can i do now?

  use your windows cd.... insert it during start up

  Since it's a laptop, press some buttons and do a recovery. But this also means you will lose all your files because it will restore it back to factory state.

  I assume you have the Windows CD?
  
  If so, do this:
  
  expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ c:\windows\system32\hal.dll
  
  Replace d with the correct CD/DVD drive letter.
  
  Replace c with the correct drive letter that Windows is installed on. By default, this is C. If it's already C, there's no need to change.

  ok, if u have important information on your laptop, you should first see if there is any action that allows you to back up your hdd. ( most prob you will need cd r discs for that)
  
  you can either restore from the start when you got your laptop or the last image that your laptop saved. this is up to you.
  
  or
  
  you can do a full format.
  Full partition or just your C drive.
  Note: this will wipe out your hdd and all info will be lost and the computer will be reverted back to the day when you bought it. All settings will be lost too. like for eg: Wireless settings. Programmes you download like games ect will be gone too. Doucuments, music, videos, favourites ect.
  
  So if there's a backup function, USE it.

  Hal.dll is an important file of Windows, this file doesn't exist, either it blue screens on boot or it doesn't boot.
  
  Reinstalling will put everything back in order, but information is lost. So does doing a recovery.
  
  Not sure for other brands, but HP and Compaq laptops will do a backup before recovery (it prompts you to... if you select No... then good luck). Everything is gone. I regretted this option deeply.

  Yes. My Vista crashed after the numerous tweaks.

  I remembered, when my keyboard stopped responding, it displayed a bsod
  and then it restarted
  
  went to HP service centre just now , 3 days service, cause i dont wann pay $ for xpress service, and 4 days if they send the lappie to your house
  
  But at least, i made a kill by requesting for a change of my prev matt screen to Glossy ones

  I don't like glossy screens... light reflect... I prefer matt... but in very bright areas... can't see...

  What's the command you entered in?
  
  Put in the CD to another drive. Go to the i386 folder and check if the hall.dl_ file is there.
