Its impossible that it could max out. There is a commercial force behind to ensure that such thing will not happen. if the internet maxes out in this age, we are basically considered 'dead'

I wouldn't know if it won't max out. All those bandwidth suckers (P2P, download managers, videos, Podcasts, TV shows, etc) will put a strain on networks.
God cares if there's a commercial force behind it to make sure it doesn't fall. But at the rate consumers are abusing, commercial forces won't be able to catch up.
And note: COMMERCIAL FORCES.
They are the ones paying for the upgrade of the network infrastructure, and it will go up to billions. If they decided that passing the bill to us won't even recover much of their losses, they won't do it.
Then you will suck thumb when these idiots suck up your bandwidth, especially for those on cables. Already, it has enough problems, add these idiots, your connections will suck more.
For ADSL... if you don't keep an eye on what your family members are doing... I tell you, it will be as bad or even worse than those on cables.
