my internet connection...

i don't know what is wrong with my internet... it is is giving me a lot of problem. hope someone can help me.
There are 1 pc and 1 laptop using the internet at home. i am using the laptop with wireless connection and the pc is using the cable.
i am getting lots of dc now. play cs dc, play dota dc... and sometimes my msn also dc. and sometimes i wont be able to connect to the internet even though i am able to detect the internet. even if i am able to connect to the internet, the internet is always very slow and usually the signal is only 2-3 bar.
i wont be able to use cable because my laptop is very far away from the router. erm, is there anyway to set so that i will get more of the connection, as compare to the pc?
hopefully someone can help me slove my dc prob. thanks -

Router brand + model number please.
And what kind of house are you living in. -
brand is 2wire, not very sure which number is my model number but i guessing it's this, so it's 2700HG.
i'm living in a 4-room HDB flat. -
HDB flat connections shouldn't be that bad...
Try this in Command Prompt:
ipconfig /renew, press Enter
ipconfig /flushdns, press Enter -
when i input ipconfig/flushdns, it says 'The requested operation requires elevation'.
by the way, what does this 2 command do? -

/renew [Adapter] :
Renews DHCP configuration for all adapters (if an adapter is not specified) or for a specific adapter if the Adapter parameter is included. This parameter is available only on computers with adapters that are configured to obtain an IP address automatically. To specify an adapter name, type the adapter name that appears when you use ipconfig without parameters.
/flushdns :
Flushes and resets the contents of the DNS client resolver cache. During DNS troubleshooting, you can use this procedure to discard negative cache entries from the cache, as well as any other entries that have been added dynamically. -

It's just a batch file which does this:
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
Right click on this file and select Edit. You will see the commands.
Because I have no idea how to elevate a normal user as admin in Vista via Command Prompt.
Are your connections working fine? -
dc refering to:
1. pc not receiving signals from router
or
2. internet got cut off from your router/modem? -
where you put your mio modem? on the floor? put it high up...so it can give out the signals better.

1.try adjusting your RX and/or TX antenna position.
2. do a survey(if ur router got this function).. check that how many people are using the same frequency as u do.
3. place your router some where large object cannot block the signal -
You need to figure out where the DC is caused by your router or your ISP's connection.
To do that, plug your laptop or computer directly to your modem, and see if you get disconnected.
If you do, you should give your ISP a ring and ask them what gives.
If it doesn't disconnect you, its probably due to your wireless router. Wireless disconnect issues are difficult to troubleshoot. Try adjusting your antennae orientation to see if you are able to improve the signal bars.
If you are getting full signal but experience disconnects, it could be due to interference. Try shifting locations, or setting your wireless config to auto channel selection.
Other possibilities is that you have a faulty device, or a faulty configuration.
