ram question

  i'm planning to add some more ram into my pc.Currently there are 4 slots.
  I took out 1.
  this is the spec
  512mb,ddr,400,CL3
  
  Currently i have 2 X 512mb ram in my pc slots...
  If i buy one 1gb ram to add on,is it ok.Cause i heard it wil be better if the like 2X1gb/2X512mb combination.
  
  how's the pricing like for my kind of ram at 1gb?

  haiz...I don't know what type of ram my comp using and bought it to my neighbourhood PC shop, he charged me 60$ for 512 ram.
  
  I only have 2 ram slots nia -_- nonetheless, I learnt how to add a ram liao.
