wireless network hackers?

  hi, have a question here..
  my friend owns a internet cafe. Recently he upgraded a faster speed plan for his shop. its faster indeed but internet connection keep cutting off. many customers lost. the thing is the salesman said thousands of people had hacked into the wireless network of this shop and have been using, thus may contribute to the disconnection.
  
  is this true? thousands of hackers? then internet cafes no need do biz liao?? Please advise. thank you very much!!

  if you have wireless protection, ie Mac Address filtering + WEP encryption enabled, it is rather impossible to access the wireless connection

  Can he try limiting to a number of people first? His network might not be able to handle too many people.

  internet cafe how to use wireless?
  how do users log on to the network?
  (I assumed it's password protected)
  
  could it be caused by interference from other wireless devices (e.g. cordless phones)

  Your friend smoke by the saleman !!!! haha it is the hardware issue !!!
  
  Wireless have limited range - ask your friend - walk around the area - where do you think can hide thousand or even hundred of hackers !!! If got thousand or hundreds people - all sitting all around the place with notebooks which must be a fantastic sight !!! - think TV and newapaper also come - gunniess record - for the largest amount of people hacking into one wireless at one time !!!

  - disable dhcp server, use static IP address
  - use mac address filter
  - secure the network with password
  - off SSID broadcast
  - limit the broadcast range( using weak broadcaset range or medium.. depends how far is the furthest computer from the router)
  
  if his cafe is not dont have lan game service, he can use subnet, this is to reduce the number of people than can be connected to router

  we thought we are cheated by them sales. they say will lend us the cisco hardware, want us sign contract. if there is no disconnection when using their system, they want us to pay for the system. if still got problem, then they admit its their fault.

  Try limiting network coverage to withing the cafe. People need to be close to your cafe to steal the network.

  Crap. Cisco or non-Cisco products, if it's not secure, anybody can crack that network.
  
  Don't listen to them. Get the router manual, read it carefully and set up the network properly.
