GPU / Mobo / PSU problem.. ? ( Experts Come in ! )

This problem got me stumped. Here's how it goes.
1. Removed GPU A to clean.
2. Installed back GPU A. - Normal boot to XP - failed.
Super slow at Pre-BIOS boot(Detecting IDE and such). Hangs when tried to go into BIOS. Safe Mode only gives a black screen with monitor indicating Display size out of range. (Too big.)
3. Removed GPU A.
4. Boot into XP Safe mode using Onboard VGA. - Ok
5. Boot into XP Normal mode using Onboard VGA - Failed.
Just got stuck at XP logo boot screen, went into msconfig for Diagnostic startup didn't work.
Thus only able to boot into Safe Mode using onboard VGA.
Pissed, i tried a reformat.
6. Plugged in GPU A - Able to display
7. Installed Win XP
8. Installed XP SP 1 - After Restart boot to XP Failed.
Should be GPU A's problem.
9. Removed GPU A. - Used onboard VGA.
10. Reformat again.
11. Win XP, SP 1 & 2.
No problems, meaning i could boot to Win XP in both Normal and Safe modes.
Thinking GPU A was nearly 3.5yrs old and already artifacting, i went out and bought a brand new GPU B.
12. Installed GPU B and.. same problem as when i initially tried to replace GPU A after cleaning.

13. Removed power from DVD drive and slave HDD, for fear of underpowered PSU. - Didnt work.
14. Removed GPU B
15. Boot into XP Safe mode using Onboard VGA. - Ok
16. Boot into XP Normal mode using Onboard VGA - Failed.
Well this got me stumped. It's practically the same problem for both GPUs.
Summary -
After installing the cards it would take super long to load ( at IDE Detect Sequence) and not boot into BIOS or even Safe mode.(Thus unable to even install drivers for the GPU)
Even after removing the GPUs and using Onboard VGA, it would only let me into Safe mode.
Installing them and using output from onboard VGA does not work as the signal will come automatically come from the GPU.
Also tried to disable Onboard VGA before switching to GPU video output - would not boot into BIOS or even Safe mode.
Installing Win XP with the GPUs in would cause them failure to boot as soon as i complete SP 1 patching and restart.
Diagnostic startup via msconfig doesn't work.
The Suspects -
GPU A - 9600XT - 3.5yrs old
GPU B- X1650XT - Brand New - 350W Required.
PSU - ICute (Cheapo brand i know..) 420W - 1 Year old
Mobo - MSI 865 GM3 - 1 Year old - 3 yrs Warranty
Any experts care to shed some light ? -
And btw will be sending the mobo to RMA...

incompatible with XP? try installing a diff OS and see? -
Came back.. Its not the MOBO !!!!
GPU = Graphics Processing Unit = Graphic Card
The GPUs are current and will work with Win XP..
Trying out the rams next could be PSU. -
maybe you very sway and your new graphics card also faulty?

Try clearing your CMOS on the motherboard, it looks like the data became corrupted after the change of hardware.
How many sticks of RAM do you have?Boot with only one stick of RAM first -

Now running Memtest86, takes an hour or so... -
Swapped a HDD and did a reformat.
Now everything's working fine. Even the original HDD is on slave and working now.
What went wrong
Boot Sector error on the original HDD ? -

it's the gpu.

Itchy to try if GPU A is still working or not...
better not fix what is not broken, though.
