hmm my uncle tried to intro me to use ubuntu cuz i refused to upgrade to xp, saying that win 2000 is the most secure. then he said then why dun i try ubuntu, i can just install and dual boot, just to try it out. that way i can continue using windows as well. -
any1 tried installing ubuntu on VMware Player?

XP concept is the same as 2K, I don't see how much secure it will be.
Perhaps in terms of features, 2K doesn't have so many features and it's meant more for enterprise. -

Tried with Fedora, OpenSuse and Xubuntu as well.

tried to install ubuntu 7.10 on VMware but it seem to take forever to install.. it always stop at "scanning mirror". didnt encounter any problem for 7.04..

If it's downloaded, check the MD5. If it doesn't match, your download may be corrupted. -

Ubuntu rocks la, superb eye candy. Totally free. They send the installation cd free to your house, unlike microsft like go sim lim buy. Why use office 2007

Disconnect from the internet when you try installing. Anyway, tried Xubuntu on VMware server before installing it onto my laptop. Mouse was very lag but otherwise still quite ok for me. Managed to use the Partition Editor to delete away my old Linux partition.
Now I am accessing from Xubuntu.
