msi.dll

got a error when starting the comp, says msi.dll is corrupted.
run virus scan no virus detect,
replaced the msi.dll with another file from another pc. cannot overwrite
try delecting, cannot delete, prompts no allowed.
alot applications cannot be installed/run becoz of this error.. anyone can help?
this file is in system32

1. Go to Start > Control Panel and double click on Add/Remove Programs.
2. Top right hand corner, tick Show Updates box.
3. Scroll all the way down and find Windows Installer 3.1. Click Change/Remove to uninstall it.
4. Re-download and re-install a copy of Windows Installer 3.1 here:

5. Restart computer.
See if it happens again.

i tried another method, renaming msi.dll to msi.bak, but renamed is not possible at all as stated in my 1st post.

Because it's Windows file.

Start > Run and copy and paste in the following:
regsvr32 msi.dll
, press Enter

Why the hell do you want to delete this file? It's a Windows file, delete it you can't install programs on Windows.

it says load library "msi.dll" failed. blablbla
i think i gonna just reformat it tml or the day after..
