the more things U have in ur HDD the slower it will get...another way to look at it is the lesser HDD free space U have...the slower it will get.Originally posted by nikoz:I also have a problem with my com. Does anyone have any idea why does my com suddenly take so long (3-4 mins) to start up when it normally takes about (1.5 mins) only after reformatting it.
Another problem i have is sometimes my com can suddenly just shut off and re-start by itself. Then sometimes it can't even start and a message said some system file is missing or corrupt then i have to re-fprmat the whole com again and again.
Is there something spoil in my computer? the memory, the cpu? I am using a Hp Pavilion, 2.5Ghz, 2x256 (512mb) running on Windows home edition.
Thank you.
Should be wired. However, he said that everytime he uses the internet, the WLAN LED will light up. This time round, the WLAN LED did not light up and he also lost the internet connection.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Lost internet connection - using wireless or wired?
Before this, he separately formatted one drive before the other and then both together.Originally posted by jr.spikey:Hi all,
The icons on my friend's desktop turned to an icon in "FILE" format, such that when you double-click you have to "open with...".
All he is able to do is to open IE and MSN messenger. IE lags a lot too and he is unable to visit websites either.
He tried reformatting, but after that lost the internet connection.
What can be done?
That means most likely he's using wireless.Originally posted by jr.spikey:Should be wired. However, he said that everytime he uses the internet, the WLAN LED will light up. This time round, the WLAN LED did not light up and he also lost the internet connection.

Should be. If he doesn't, it probably means he didn't do it the right way.Originally posted by kenn3th:After reformatting did he get back his normal interface?
Actually, just the normal ones. Windows office, latest messenger and thats about it and it still have the same problem after 2, 3 weeks.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:1. What programs do you install after reformatting?
2. During the re-installation of Windows, did Windows prompt about any files not being able to copy over?
My C drive total is 143GB free space 126GB. D drive 69 GB free 54 GB. E: which is also part of the main HD, (C) keeps the recovery part. Total size 5GB. Then F drive also 5 GB.Originally posted by Xcert:the more things U have in ur HDD the slower it will get...another way to look at it is the lesser HDD free space U have...the slower it will get.
U doing any downloading from p2p sites?
Since that's the program, you should perform some maintenance, not reformat and reinstall Windows all the time.Originally posted by nikoz:Actually, just the normal ones. Windows office, latest messenger and thats about it and it still have the same problem after 2, 3 weeks.
And during the re-installation, everything goes as per normal cos i am using a HP recovery CD...
