any recommended brands and models?
just for normal regular usage like surfing... word processing... cad... and a bit of gaming... what are the mainstream ones, mid -entry level?
which are customizable as in can add ram, hdd, extra parts?
and which model has got a gd batt life?
any advice guys? -
toshiba got one super light one but i dunno the model
samsung also -
Almost all Jap brands laptops are light.
Sony, Fujitsu, Pansonic, NEC.
LG ones are quite light. -

Using fujitsu now. The one i'm using is 3 years old liao. But after 3 year warranty finish the keyboard and speaker spoil. nb.
Then got 1 usb port siao siao de cannot detect my mouse but can detect external storage.. If got money to change i will wanna try asus.

Sony have a new VAIO laptop which is lightweight but I don't think they are suitable for gaming. High price tag also.
Toshiba also have very lightweight laptops (~1.1kg). -
But Toshiba got heat problems...

every laptop heats up depending on usage uh...
my x60 output vent at times mildly burn my fingers when i put them there...
heat is something u cant escape from a laptop...
it also depends on where u put it on...as laptop intake vent is at the base....slightly elevate the laptop's upper part and it wont generate too much heat -

the current Acers arent too bad....especially the Aspire 5920 and Travelmate 6292
the 5920 has superior graphics performance for a laptop of its cheap price
while the 6292 is a good contender for the Lenovo X60 and X61...although missing out by a slight bit -
My ACER can go up to 90 degrees celcius. God damn it. I am not supporting an Acer anymore.

Due to it anything I play on this laptop it will just auto-shutdown when its burning. -
