That means you could boot up?Originally posted by hiphop2009:i fixed anpther 256MB SDRAM pc133 inside my desktop, which means now currently is 512MB (256x2). but windows XP doesnt seems to detect my RAM, while CPUZ and PC wizard can detect.

wad i mean was, it can only detect one piece, which is 256.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:That means you could boot up?
Anyway, how old is your mobo?
No idea what's happening, although I suspect it's the Intel chip. Intel can be very sensitive at times.Originally posted by hiphop2009:wad i mean was, it can only detect one piece, which is 256.
it is already 5 years. 1Ghz celeron.
dunnoe leh. switched liao. still the same prob. CPUZ detect as 512 while windows xp only recognise it as 256.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:No idea what's happening, although I suspect it's the Intel chip. Intel can be very sensitive at times.
Can you try swapping the RAM piece around the different slots and see if it works?
Couldn't be, faulty RAM slot I don't think it will even show up.Originally posted by hiphop2009:dunnoe leh. switched liao. still the same prob. CPUZ detect as 512 while windows xp only recognise it as 256.
is it because of a faulty RAM slot?
i read my motherboard user manual and it says can support up to 1.5GB of RAM.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Couldn't be, faulty RAM slot I don't think it will even show up.
And I doubt at 5 years ago that the integrated graphics card can go up to as high as 256MB...
When the computer boots up, what's the amount of RAM shown?
Hmm... weird... or is it another problematic one.Originally posted by hiphop2009:i read my motherboard user manual and it says can support up to 1.5GB of RAM.
and my graphic card is AGP4X ATI radeon 9600, so it is nt integrated graphic card.
it is shown as 256.....
yes. hmm....is it because it is old liao?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Hmm... weird... or is it another problematic one.
Are both sticks PC133 SDRAM?
Old doesn't matter, because it works.Originally posted by hiphop2009:yes. hmm....is it because it is old liao?

First time I see such things... well... anyway, Intel is famous for anything that doesn't work...
