Just curious... what made you use a particular search engine? What's the first search engine you used?
Me started off using MSN... but search results weren't that great. Or at times irrelevant.
After that, I switched to Yahoo!. I used it exclusively for a few years and occasionally MSN and no other search engines until I reach poly.
For the first few months of poly, I still used Yahoo!, but other search engines as well, such as Ask.com, as they are sufficient enough for my school research.
After a few months, I switch over to Google, but never did get use to it (for some reason, Google never did produce the right results
) and still use Yahoo! quite often. After a few months of getting used to Google and how to use it properly, I finally used Google as my main search engine.
Now, Google is the first search engine I used, followed by Yahoo!, MSN, IxQuick and Dogpile (IxQuick and Dogpile when Google, Yahoo! and MSN produce nothing significant). -

i use AltaVista first coz when i have my first pacnet .. it come with netscape browser that by default set to altavista for home page ..
i never change default homepage because i dont know how to at that time.
than i switch to yahoo during poly .. because saw many people using it .. + altavista result not that good .. cant find what i want ..
when i start to use firefox .. i switch to google because firefox come with those search plugin by default is set to google .. than i found google to be very useful .. can dig out many thing with it .. so i stay with google till now as my main search engine
so now i use only 2 search engine .. google as main and second yahoo for different results -
started with altavista and another one i forgot the name.
later on yahoo cos i was told its better and it was.
and then google and now google cos it seems to give the best results. and i like the layout better than the crowded yahoo -
google is my best friend
dogpile seems hopeless .. can't get right mp3 result. keep crashing.

All meta search engines are hopeless when it comes to searching for such things... but try other stuffs, you will find something interesting.
Looks like I can bookmark a few other sites for other purposes.

so now google is my primary search engine.
I dont really like MSN search/Live Search. -

My first email account was under Excite.com and so the first search engine I
used. Then Yahoo as it became more popular to me. Afterwhich, I found the simpler yet efficient, google.com.
Askjeeves, dogpiles were just history to me. -

my first was lycos asia. (1999) followed by yahoo.com (year: 2000) then after that was google ( which i mis spelt it as goggle) then damm fustrated cause use dialup ma
apprently i dont use yahoo, not at all.
I rely on google to get me my info and i always get it. -
Used to be yahoo when i was on tortoise 56K. Then when i switched to broadband and Firefox, found that Google gives me better results. So switched to Google liao.
And Wikipedia for all the GK. -
it was altavista... now it's almost exclusively google...
in the past, when i was doing research at work, we used this cool program called Copernic.. it was cool as heck.. you do a search with it, it'll go into all the search engines out there and do a search, compile the results, throw away the crap like pr0n sites and empty sites, filter the malicious sites and then give you the results by ranking in terms of relevance

but since the advent of xp, we can't even bloody defrag our office PCs, we've abandoned using this
