How does a lack of power slows down the comp? You mean the com can still work without having enough power and will only slow down?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:You do really need to plan your hard disk usage.
Another thing could be your power supply. Put in a 450W one instead.
Sometimes computers are just weird... some when not enough power will automatically slow down, others will go poof! Shutting down... it all depends on the processor itself.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:How does a lack of power slows down the comp? errrr... The correct sentence is "Not enough "space" or "capacity" in the hard disk to use as memory or "virtual memory"."Originally posted by caleb_chiang:not enough memory on hdd for virtual memory to utilise....
how to change?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:30% of free space on C should have enough to be used as virtual memory... unless the settings are changed to utilize more than 30% of the disk space or Windows is not installed on C drive (which my answer is based on).
Yes, it's bad. Windows needs at least 20% free space to function properly. Anything lesser, the computer will slow down.Originally posted by unclebutcher:how to change?
sorry, my C drive has 17% free space only.
is that bad?
how do i delete all the useless remnants?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Yes, it's bad. Windows needs at least 20% free space to function properly. Anything lesser, the computer will slow down.
As for changing... I won't say for now. You really need to plan your storage uses.
1. Please use a temporary file cleaner to clear out all your temporary files. (CCleaner or ATF Cleaner)Originally posted by unclebutcher:how do i delete all the useless remnants?
hmmmm.... I have a couple of comps that are slower than tortoises... I thot RAM but I will check power as well... on your recommendation.... never thought of it, thanks.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Sometimes computers are just weird... some when not enough power will automatically slow down, others will go poof! 2. Look through your Add/Remove Programs for unnecessary programs or programs that you hardly use and uninstall them. For those that can't be removed fully, check in this folder: C:\Program Files\Program Name
Delete that Program Name folder AFTER uninstalling the program.
3. Empty your Recycle Bin.
4. Music and pictures all burn to a CD or DVD.
Haha, I got one case which was like this... just change the PSU and settle...Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:hmmmm.... I have a couple of comps that are slower than tortoises... I thot RAM but I will check power as well... on your recommendation.... never thought of it, thanks.
when u shut down, programs will terminate safely and settings will save in your hdd. so sometimes is due to lots of settings to save in your hdd. or some program is taking a long time to terminate.Originally posted by unclebutcher:another qn: how come sometimes my com takes damn long to shutdown? even my friends with laptops and vista say it takes an insanely long time to shutdown, so they hibernate instead....
ok point noted. when 8800gts price down i will get itOriginally posted by orionlight:TS might want to consider changing graphics card especially if you want to play future games with no lag.Your system is horribly imbalanced imho. The 7300LE is weak and belongs to the bottom rung of the graphics while the E6600 is overkill.
