1) isit ok to leave ur com running the whole day?
2) at what temp should we shut down the computer
3)com hot, related to com being laggy?
4) even if canot keep it running for a day, what is the longest time?
, considering that it is a average com
5) what temp inside the CPU is ok? veri high? average? low?

3. It could be. The fan is working very hard to keep it cool and the processor might slow down to prevent overheating. It depends on how a processor handles heat. Some will just auto shutdown, while others will see on a case-by-case basis.
4. If it's kept cool, it can run for days. Again, that depends on your usage. Average one would keep it on for about 3 hours.
5. Preferably lesser than 30 and no higher than 60. -

It should be ok to leave your com on 24/7. It may shorten its lifespan by a few years though, but I suppose you would be upgrading or changing your computer within the next 5 - 6 years, so it doesn't really matter.Originally posted by yiha093:i have a few questions here

If you are worried about performance or whatsoever due to heat issues, you can try shutting it down for 45 mins per day to let it cool down or something. -
I use Notebook Hardware control to undervolt my CPU for longer battery life and cooler CPU temp
At home, when it's hot, CPU temperature normally reaches 50 degrees
In school air con area, normally around 42 degrees
After warranty ends, I'm going to use artic silver on my CPU instead. My fren did it to his IBM laptop and his resting temperature in school air con area is around 36 to 37 degrees after undervolting too -

try to answer if can!! xD but it's not recc for laptops to go on for 24hrs 7days a week, first is that heat circulation issues due to it being very slim and compact and the adaptor of the laptop can go up to very high temps and will spoil quickly.
2)lol, about 80 degrees and above, i dont wish to fry my laptop
3)haha, Com hot, more energy used to cool it = more electricity= naggy parents

5)avg about 60 degrees, for processor, for hdd should be around 40 degrees if u use for like 5 hrs to 6

if you game for v-long, lots of heat will be generated and the processor, graphics card will work harder. Heat will significantly lower the performance, thus that's why most gamers will invest in a proper cooling system like liquid cooler or more fans. -
just as an extra note: my laptop is 2 yr and 5 months old.

If the room is air con... it's OK. It keeps it quite cool... but of course expect your bills to be as high as when rockets are launched.

well very possible if your comp is handled well.
For me,i once left my PC on for about 8 months to 1 full year 24/7 everyday and it din give me problems until like 5 years down the road when it finally cannot take the stress. -

(2) its hard to say. there's a rating for peak volatge and thus temp allowable for ram, cards, boards and processor. however it is never desirable to let temp reach that stage coz it means somtim's gonna burn and your system spoilt require change of hardware or even everything. so there is always options to set the threshold max temp so that the computer can auto shut down forcing all applications to close and data not saved lost
(3) com hot how hot? paggy could be caused by other fators, software, incompatibility , malware, dying hardware, network or internet connection bla bla
(4) if the average comp is new you can run it for days i believe. it all depends on what u r doing with the comp. downloading and gaming might require u to shut if down / reboot once in less than a day. if u are doing simple office applications i believe switch on overnite fine no problem 1.

More airflow can mean more dust. Prolonged hours also means more airflow =
more dust. You must be prepared to clear your pc innards of dust more often
if you want to do so or try some way to prevent dust from entering. I got 1
cpu that died because I was too lazy to clear dust from the cpu fan. Especially
my area alot of dust due to proximity of espressway. -
for me,
i tortured my DIY celeron 1Ghz cpu for 5 years and it still now refuse to give up
recently changed a new graphic card, add new USB ports, change to audigy sound card, add tv tuner card. now still working very well, though a bit laggy....coz memory only 256MB... -
