Can someone simplify and tell me the areas of work in future for this few option provided by SP.
Information Systems Option
With Infocomm Technology being used widely in all walks of life, the Information Systems option equips students with broad-based cutting-edge IT skills that enable them to fit into many areas of the IT industry. This option is specifically carved and designed to enable graduates to maintain high levels of skill relevancy amidst the constant evolution of IT.
Hospitality and Tourism OptionNew!
Singapore Tourism Board has set the goal to double visitor arrivals to 17 million; and to create 100,000 additional tourism related jobs by 2015. To contribute to the goal, iN2015 has proposed to leverage on infocomm to transform the tourism and retail sector, differentiating Singapore as a leading travel destination. This option aims to produce infocomm graduates with domain knowledge in the Hospitality and Tourism industry to support the strategies outlined in iN2015.
Bioinformatics Option
The Singapore Biomedical Sciences (BMS) initiative was launched in June 2000 to develop the Biomedical Sciences cluster as the 4th key pillar of Singapore's economy. This option is designed to equip students with a relevant scientific and technical background, as well as a skill-set for the creation of excellent, well-validated methods for solving problems in the domain of bioinformatics.
There's two more. Game Development Option and Mobile Applications Development which I assume Game Development to develop game(everyone knows that) and Mobile Applications to create software for Mobile Phones. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Information Systems - more or less about information, how to handle it. A lot of database handling, creating algorithms to handle the data. It's one of the really technical ones in the IT field...

As for the rest, it's pretty self explanatory.
IT knowledge in Hospitality and Tourism (perhaps database, real time information, etc)
You will most likely work in this industry, applying your IT knowledge and coming up with applications to attract tourists.
Bioinformatics, applications of Science... although I doubt you will really be able to find work in one... it's the one that seems very attractive, but the most deceptive one as well.
Mobile applications is not just limited to phone softwares. It can expand to study about creating mobile applications on wireless networks (your laptop is mobile, remember?) -
Oh.. Ok, which one do you think have the best prospect(earn big bucks) and won't get bored studying/doing it?

Each and every field is unique by itself.
If you are creative, like gaming and programming, Games Development will be a good one. Interest will last you, and hopefully spur you to keep on going despite how difficult it is.
If you like the idea of using a particular software on your phone, mobile applications will attract you.
If Science is your favourite, then Bioinformatics will be your friend. But this I must warn. Go for further studies if possible. Don't just stop at a diploma. You won't get far with it.
Information Systems... I don't know what kind of people will like it... it's dealing with a lot of information, keeping them secure, updating them, storing them, producing algorithms to search them, etc. Unless you really like programming...
Hospitality and tourism... no idea what kind of possibilities are there, you could explore. The upcoming casinos should provide some idea. Creating new games? A new algorithm to prevent people from cheating? Making IT services here friendly to tourists, like finding out news that happen in their home countries, stocks updates, etc. -
Just go for what you like to do.
Do it good. Exceed your targets and you'll earn well in the future, regardless of career. -
I guess I'll go for Game development and yes I'll be further studying no matter local or private uni.
Anyway, Game development is to create games like let say WoW (just giving an example) ? -
I think one will start from simple games... WoW is a collaborative effort of quite a lot of people...

Whats the difference from DESIGNING the game and PROGRAMMING the game?
Design as in i design the map, the character, the storyline? IF thats the case, what other things can the game programmer do?
Sorry if to you I'm asking stupid question, I just want to know more about it. -
That I don't know. I don't do games programming. I suppose it's like saying someone is Web Designer and another is a Web Programmer.
A Web Programmer is someone who creates applications for web use, like how you use IRAS to fill up tax forms, sign up with SGF, etc. Those are web applications.
A web designer designs, although their job scope usually go beyond designing. -
programming the game has got to do with the logic of the game.
It's like artificial intelligence for the game. -

There's no such thing as bla bla bla field is bad or good. It's rather, the developments that affect a particular field.
In IT, the developments are very rapid. All the time, you will basically find some outdated info, finding yourself needing upgrades of some sort, how to use this, how to use that, how to deploy this, how to deploy that, etc.
If you don't think you can keep up with such pace, IT is not a place for you.
When people think IT, they also think of costs. You are not talking to humans, but machines. When they don't work, you are in heaps of troubles. Your boss expects them to work, no failures of any sorts and keep the costs low. That's why they use IT - because it automates nearly every task, so I can hire fewer people.
The same reason is applied to IT jobs as well. If you can do your job well, but commands a higher salary than someone else who does just as good, you will be out. It's how competitive this field is. But of course, if you do very well, then everyone will want you.
It's a challenging field, as well as a competitive one, not to say an idiotic one (when you really meet one), a fun one (there's a lot to play with when you are plain bored) as well as a stressful one. You will find joy today, tomorrow you will find pain. -
