Together with shipping and conversion, I figure this OS will cost around $200 without the hardware.

This feature sounds like RAID to me.

since we are on apple OS...anyone can tell me if there is any difference in a Mac and a PC in terms of hardware?
ie...can I get an iBook and format it with OS X to become a Mac?
and vice versa....install Windows into an iBook to become a PC? -

And err... in any case of dual booting, Windows has to install first, otherwise, it will corrupt the other OS...
If it's just one OS, it will work vice versa... provided it's supported. Windows should have no problems, Mac maybe.
I'm curious though, does Mac support AMD? Me don't really like Intel... -

but i noe mac OS's...must be processor compatible....u cant use a Mac Processor(Power PC) OS on an Intel system...
intel processor-designed Mac Os wont work on Mac processor systems..
Mac Os's are designed based on the kind of processors...they cant mix..i think this does not exist in windows... but i gez thats y macs are so good and stable...cos they are in a way custom-designed on specific Processors
i think my explanation abt long winded...
in other words...Macs designed their OS's so far on 2 systems... the POWERPC...and INTEL...
POWERPC very classic...i think IBOOK used to be powerpc?correct me if i am wrong

anyone knows if there are any places to get parts at reasonable prices for old Mac machines?
I think I will most likely need to get a CDROM drive for a PowerBook G3 M3553.
