help concerning hard disks

kay hi all, im a tech newb and i need some help
what can i get if i want a portable hard disk with at least 200gb capacity? one that's plug in and play kind? i've seen those 3.5" ones and they are alright but the range of prices are like crazy. at challenger i saw some just above $200 and there's those around $500.
advise? -

go funan or simlim the other shops to ask for external HDD lor. btw you want 3.5 or 2.5? -
i would prefer 2.5" but all those with larger size seem to be 3.5"
and all of them just need to plug and play? -
Just buy a normal SATA or IDE 3.5" hard disk with a USB HDD enclosure. Much cheaper than those "external hard disk" sold as a product by itself.
It works the same as thumb drive. If you know how to use usb thumb drive u will know how to use the hdd. -

The price of the whole thing is the cost of a hard disk + enclosure in sim lim or
funan. Price of Seagate SATA drive 250GB about $110 now and enclosure
around $35. Shops do sell bundles for hdd + enclosure so there can be
better deals around. -
I saw a price list on hardwarezone, says that a Seagate 250 GB external HDD costs $111. I'm sure SLS will have it.

2.5 hdd plug and play is more convinent thus it's more exp
where as 3.5 hdd requires a higher voltage therefore u need to plug it in to the mains. -
go for 3.5 if u dont bring it around, it's bulky, get a 2.5 to get convinence of a thumb drive.
but 2.5 spoils faster imo due to the casing, and when you bring it around, it's prone to drop it or knock it.
