Haven't reach yet, the pricing was just announced few days ago.. The 1st generation haven't reach... the 2nd generation already going to launch next year Its based on the new intel chip Merom for portable devices, supposedly able to reduce power consumption by a significant amount. http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20070904PD215.html
I think this is around SG, Sim Lim - Renova. I may be wrong though, I didn't check out the specs as the screen is really too small.

So far I think its only good for msn and watching youtube Still got wat kind of uses? maybe update facebook status also can

Save battery lor. Good for those who are on the move nearly all the time.
Other than that, the small screen is really a turn off. Watch Youtube with that small screen, no way.
pada006
Ya better than carry bulky laptop, but youtube video when enlarged also not really good quality. The screen like that is just perfect for youtube default size lol.

The specs like not so nice also. Wiki says it's still running Celeron.
this is a USD 199 price tag UMPC laptop but almost similar to a laptop in terms of functions
pada006
According to wikipedia, umpc are classified to be have a screen no bigger than 7-inch (the asus EEE's screen is 7-inch), so if its larger it may not be in this category.
Maybe have to wait for umpc to really get into mainstream before the ones in- between start to pop out. After consumer pressure?
BoxHiller
its just a matter of time before a small time or low profile Kojinsha -like company comes up with a similar spec UMPC and a bigger screen to capture the market
ndmmxiaomayi
Well, the price tag will never be USD199. Read the Engadget article. By the time it hits SG, it will cost at least SGD300. Depending on the specs, I'm not even sure if it's really worth it, other than nice power-saving features.
pada006
The site stating the specs of the EEE UMPC is up on asus website now.
Shouldn't be in SG yet until after mid-November or even later... or might even be in SG already... I think it's the former...

My brother's wife bought for herself an asus eee. It is damn light and the buttons are quite user-friendly. But she bought from china for only 200Sing dollars. Maybe its fake one, made by the great chinese faking company.
I went sim lim and saw that it is selling at $599.
Definitely a good and portable computer for light surfing. The only trouble is 4gb hard disk is too small. Processer is pentium 3 celeron 700mhz. 1gb ddr2 ram. got camera somemore. Others i dunno.

yah thats 1 of the unique ASUS EE PC too think its using a different storage as compared to normal laptops....
btw, u thread digger~!!!
^tamago^
My friend has XP installed on it and I played with it. Not bad but you have to run toned-down applications in order to eat into the 1GB RAM and precious HDD space which can be augmented that much by a SD card slot. I still wish for a 10" or a small but hi-res screen, even if it means an extra battery.
tofushop193
i can get it for u cheap...but its from taiwan...
ndmmxiaomayi
It started selling in Taiwan first, then to US and Europe and the rest of Asia.
