PC auto ''shut down''

Hello everyone... My HP computer recently shuts down on its own, by shutting down i dont mean it ends the programmes..then slowly goes to the page that says computer is shutting down and stuff. It just black out ( like power cut off ) but the CPU still has the light.
Sometimes i just need to restart it, sometimes it doesnt work by restarting and i have to pluck out some of the wires from the CPU and pluck it back, then restart for the CPU to be switched on again... anybody know whats the problem?
Anyway my HP com's been around 3 years..bought it around 2004, occasionally i can hear sounds coming out from the CPU, i guessed its the fans? And also i used it excessively, almost everyday for at least 9 hours..
PS: is it time i get a new one? or can this 3 yr old PC still be used ? -
Check if the fans is working.
This occur when the processor is overheated. -
Wow fast reply..yeah if im not wrong the fans are working..sometimes can even hear sounds (probably the fans, since they sound like it)from the CPU

If you are unsure if it's heat problems, download Speedfan. Before it auto shutdown, you should be able to catch a glimpse of the temperatures. If it's anything higher than 70 degrees Celsius, you know it's overheating.
Call up HP to help you with it if the warranty is still valid. If it's not, bring to any tech shops to help you. Or if you know how to do it, just do some cleaning yourself. -
Ask any physical friends who are good at hardware to check it up for you.
Anyway, good excuse for getting a new comp. My Hp is still good and running for about 10 years now. Win95 OS, P3 500mhz. was the fastest in the market when I bought it... now it seems like crap...

haha yeah..but then again i know my parents' pockets are a lil tight every now and then..sigh.
