So does it mean if I'm in the IT sector, it would be better to migrate for work once I hit the working stage?Originally posted by stellazio:I seriously don't think the IT industry has much of a future here in Singapore if you're just going to work for companies..
Too many Indians IT Techs around that will make your salary low.

Actually, if he prefers, can start learning Linux or Apple. Some companies are switching to alternative platforms and that's what killing the foreign talents.Originally posted by BrUtUs:jobs galore? ya BUT.... mostly r lowly paid/ironman ones... seriously stay in canada better... here the IT ppl r underpaid... n programmer face big competition from the indian/cheena job seeker(they r not special talent)... no real stability oso... better improve urself to higher position then come bk...

Upgrade yourself and dont be stagnant. People like Mayi willl excel in IT if she takes the correct IT path and upgrades herself constantly..
$1000 ++ $2000++ - that give you a clue to how bad the IT is here !!!Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:There are definitely jobs here, but from what I know, quite a few companies here prefer you to know Java. If you already know C or C++, moving to Java isn't difficult as the concepts are basically the same.
Database wise, knowledge of MSSQL, Oracle and/or MySQL is preferred.
Pay is around $1000++ to $2000++, depending on who you are working for. If it's a MNC, the pay tends to be higher. Local companies tend to pay lower unless you are leading a team aka project manager.
