Too good to be true?

  They say when the prices of gadgets seem too good to be true, they probably are and won't last for long. For example, motherboards that sell for $1 at sim lim square.
  
  But what about Harvey Norman's recent offers, including an Acer that costs $699? AMD Turion 1.8 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB HDD.

  it's quite basic, 512mb ram, and 80gb hdd.
  The turion processer is aready quite old, if u compare as most Amd processor-ed, laptops including mine are using the Turion 64x2 processors.

  Whether or not it is "too good to be true" depends also on who is making the offer.
  
  If your billionaire friend tells you, "It turned out the color doesn't match my sofa, so please throw away my brand new 45" LCD TV and I will pay you for the effort" it is not an offer too good to be true.

  most laptops are dual core processors now.. with hdd range from 80-200gb, and minimum 512 ram with free upgrade to 1gb.. we'll probably be seeing a minimum of 1gb ram specs and 120gb & above? Hdd.. dual core processors...etc for next line of new laptops for christmas 2007.. hence with all this 'stock clearence sales' ...

  If it's too good to be true, then most likely it comes with other T&C or compromises quality.
  
  That Acer laptop belongs to the latter.
