I thinking of buying a desktop. PC Show this june is good? Or from past experience is there a show with better price. And how much should i expect the price to drop.

but will bundle with a lotta freebies like extra ram, battery, thumbdrive, mouse or even printer...... -

Those looking for XP, please be prepared to pay a much higher price than a Vista machine. Manufacturers are phasing out XP...
Of course, if you DIY, it's another case. DIY for an XP machine is much more cheaper.
For better pricing, might want to look towards the end of this year's PC Shows, namely Comex and Sitex.
If you are just planning to buy storage devices, the prices will definitely drop, and by a lot. One of them mentioned that a Maxtor external hard disk costs $99 for a 160GB. The pricing will be even better at PC Show.
I wonder if Seagate will ship their 1TB hard disks here, because that will further push the storage devices prices down.

I always wanted to DIY, but only knows some basic info on what to look out for in DIYs, and seeing ppl post so many scary stories about sim lim, kind of dropping the idea liao.
Btw, the specs i mentioned earlier for HP home media centre desktop dropped to 2.1k liao.

Not always. It happens that this mid year show isn't as good as others. Companies have slashed their prices by a lot during the first IT Show. Not too sure if they will slash prices in PC Show. If there's only one good thing, it will be the GST is not increasing.
DIY ar... if you know, of course not scary. Usually those people are very experienced or they asked around before buying. Kind of a geek place.
I don't think there will be difference. A service pack just patches up a lot of things and nothing else. -
