  How do you know that you've been hacked?? Any tools to detect/identify?
  Searched the web but not much info on that..

  Most likely a software conflict. Most patches fix security issues, and after fixing one issue, it will cause other software(s) to run amok.

  And to add, don't anyhow click on links. While it's common sense, it's very bad to see how uncommon this is.
