  It will all depends. On that dinosaur PC of mine, the effects are very obvious. Great speeds achieved.
  
  On a brand new laptop, it only serves to make things worse. I have to restore default settings.
  
  It's just the PC, not all PCs will get the same results.

  Not some hack, but more of a trick.
  
  There exists two media player in Windows. One of them is Windows Media Player, accessible through Start > All Programs > Windows Media Player or Start > Run > wmplayer.exe
  
  There's also another one, which is something like Media Player Classic.
  
  It's named mplayer2.exe.
  
  If you don't want to download Media Player Classic, and at the same time don't want WMP to bog down your PC, just type in mplayer2.exe into the Run command.
  
  Of course an easier way would be to just download Media Player Classic.

  For keyboard haters, lock up your computer this way.
  
  Right click on your desktop, select New > Shortcut.
  
  Copy and paste this in: rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
  
  Click Next, give this shortcut a name and click Finish.

  erm mod mayi,how do i noe how big is the memory my laptop can store? Acer Aspire 3600(old) 2yrs. thinking of upgrading wif 1gig RAM, i planned to go jurong point to upgrade this saturday. my current ram is 248 (256ram) my RAM type is DDR2.

  erm mod, another qns.. im using a wireless connection. the connection is pretty unstable , sometimes 36mbps sometimes 24. and highest is 54mbps(starhub maxonline 4000*upgraded)

  Wireless is like that de... as long as the signal strength remains good, it's OK.
  
  As for the 5 minutes interval between new posts, it's to prevent spam. After 20 posts , this limit will be removed and will be down to 30 seconds.

  Should be able to add a 1GB RAM without problems.
