Yesterday, hundreds of students, activists and protestors broke into the Parliment in protest of the unauthorized, unratified secret trade deal with China. The deal will open the flood gate to Chinese business and immigrant workers in the service sector. I don't need to elaborate on what service sector means to my singaporean friends here.
I am here to find out how and why certain governments love to replace indeginous population by introducing foreign immigrants. How do governments conspire to achieve that goal. What tricks and arugments do they use ?
As a Taiwanese living abroad(not in singapore) I have never considered this issue until recently. I am an immigrant myself and I never thought of how my existance affect the social fabric of my new home.
I was aware that singaporea has been having similar debates. I only wished I had been paying more attention to Singapore much earlier, and learn a bit of something from you.
Any thoughts and criticism?
nice of them to stand up for something
not like SG
thanks for the prompt reply i'll read that topic thoroughly.
I think when secret deals catch people by surprsie, leaving them affected scarmbling to find out what the fck(literally) did these politicians just do!?
The mood is "Hell no this wasn't discussed. This wasn't planned for. who authorized this?"
Sorry, nothing said in that topic caught my eyes. But thanks anyway.

My personal view is Liberty First.
As you know many of us Taiwanese (adults) know Chinese history inside out. We tend to view what you're asking in perspectives that are fundamentally different from Singaporean or other foriegners (which defaults to dichotomy).
When you poll Taiwanese regarding independence you won't get a straight answer. The reason is: for most of us, liberty is top priority. Everthing else is just a tool for perserving our liberty. We honestly are not interested in Chinese nationalistic ferver and all that sorts of things. Those things mean something China, I understand and I respect that. But to Taiwanese, those things are useless in safegaurding our liberty.
It just happens, for the time being, the majority of Chinese in Chinese doesn't believe in liberty.
Pappies should be thankful to us none of us behave such though we are very much fed up with the ways they treat us. Pinky qua loong should go taiwan be pm and receive such treatment. He treats us like dirt.
