Kandahar: A bombing by a US plane has left over 30 members of an Afghan wedding party dead and injured many more.
It was a case of mistaken identity, after plane spotted guest firing in air as a custom in Pashto wedding.
The bombing took place 175km northeast of the southern city of Kandahar.
The BBC Pashto service said that over 120 people have been either killed or wounded.
The residents were helped by foreign choppers, as the injured were rushed to the nearby hospital in Kandahar.
Americans officials have confessed that it was a mistake.
Meanwhile, Pentagon defended the bombing saying that warplane received anti aircraft fire, prompting them to respond with close air support north of Kandahar.
The Pentagon official did confess that one bomb was errant, but they are not aware of any civilian casualty.
