This is one of the most mysterious decisions of Oz court's decisions
i have read ,so far. This is so mysterious comparable to
Oz girl gang raped twice.Rapists jailed/probatin aft AG appeal
9 men released aft plead guilty gang raped girl aged 10
Facts
''THE Family Court has allowed a 17-year-old girl to have her breasts removed so she can be more like a boy.
The teenager, code-named "Alex", was on court-ordered hormone medication from the age of 13 to prevent menstruation and breast development. She returned to the court in December 2007 asking for a double mastectomy to make it easier for her to pass as a boy.
The Chief Justice of the Family Court, Diana Bryant, decided it was in the teenager's best interests to have the surgery immediately rather than wait until turning 18.''
critisms
''But ethicist Nick Tonti-Filippini said mainstream medicine did not recognise hormone treatments and surgery as treatment for gender dysphoria. He said it was a psychiatric disorder qualifying under American guidelines as a psychosis because "it's a belief out of accordance with reality".
"What you are trying to do is make a biological reality correspond to that false belief."''
''Mr Tonti-Filippini said he was also concerned that in previous Family Court
cases involving gender dysphoria, the medical experts had been confined to a
small group of Melbourne doctors who work with sex changes.
Mr Tonti-Filippini said a Melbourne man who had had sex-change surgery at 22 was now suing his doctors because he regretted the decision and felt they had not explored his doubts at the time.''
My thoughts
This is a psychiatric disorder and shall not be treated by sexual physical change.
Also, the court is too early to order
''hormone medication from the age of 13 to prevent menstruation and breast development''.
Have they tried psychiatric and psychlogical treatment to
the girl before the ordered medication?
2.This is too early to remove breats at the age of 17.What The judge said
is totally non--sense.
''The decision was not irrevocable: "You can have prostheses and things. So if he changed his mind later on, it's reversible."''
If Alex ,after the breats removed, decisde go back to live as a girl few years later,
will any guy accept the ill fated Alex come with prostheses?
3.Professional advices are sometimes not professional.
The court just listened to small group of doctors doing sexual change.
Sure,There is conflict of interest .Has the court listened to other doctors
evidences?
4.OMG!!

to be fair to the learned Judge,
u can read the sad story of Alex here
Young people, big decisions------why the ''girl ''Alex needs to remove her breats
at age 17!!

''The decision was not irrevocable: "You can have prostheses and things. So if he changed his mind later on, it's reversible."''
The CJ of the Ferderal Australian Family Court said the above, explaining
her decision to allow a girl at age 17 to remove the breats in order for
her to live more like a boy.
If we follow her logic, then a man's male organ can be cut and put
a prostheses if he wants the function again.
I dunt know how the learned Judge would feel if her breats are removed
if she gets breast cancer.
''The Family Court of Australia is a superior Australian federal court of record which deals with family law matters. Together with the Federal Magistrates Court, it covers family law matters in all states and territories of Australia except Western Australia. Its core function is to determine cases with the most complex law, facts and parties, to cover specialised areas in family law, and to provide national coverage as the national appellate court for family law matters.[1]''

funniest thing in sgforums yet.
People must learn to live with the consequences of their decisions, even if they are only 17. Nobody can say she will not be happier without breasts. Even then is happiness always the overiding factor? She should be allowed to make her own choices on something as personal as this.

I dunt know wat is the responses of her parents on both ordered
medication and removal of breats.
The lawyers or sex change doctors may overrule the parents's desire.
Age 17 is too young to make a decision.Have they tried
sychiatric and psychlogical treatment to
the girl before the ordered medication and removal of breats?

Even if he is your son or daughter, you cannot live their lives for them. The best that you can do is to try to convince them not to do certain things. I cannot speak for other patrents but I will not stop them from destroying their own lives.
I make sure that they learn how to think properly and how to make good decisions.
I will try to influence their decisions if I think that they are bad decisions and I will not provide support, like monetary support, but they have to make their own decisions and live their own lives.
Mr Tonti-Filippini regretted his decision. He has to live with the regret. It is pointless to sue his doctors and try to blame others for a decision he made. Nobody knows the future, nobody knows that he is going to regret his decision.

wah! very enlighting post from my Uncle!!! yeah!!
I once read an article on this muslim country...
The mums actually use irons to burn their daughter's nipples so that their breast will not grow.
I'm not really sure its for what purpose. Seems like its the same reason for the women there to put on full head scarf and not allowed to even show their feets.
It seems like these people don't like what GOD had given to them.

Weird. I doubt burning nipple will stop the growth of the breast. Correct me if i am wrong.

Maybe not completely stop the growth but to make it smaller? If i remember correctly, its to prevent their daughter from being raped as the sex appeal will not be that strong for a smaller breast.
The case of breast torturing raised the awareness of the some world women's rights.

So pathetic and people like that have distorted thinking, omg! hope we don't have many parents like that in the muslim community. There are other more civilised ways of preventing rape or molest.

Actually, i heard alot of stories from the muslim community. Like... why girls wear head scarfs the moment they reach puberty etc
But i think i should not start anything on this here. If you want to know more, i can PM you the web site. But dunno how credible the web site is.

I have a few muslim females told me that they wear tudong to prevent attracting attention which may lead to rape, molest.
Actually, this is somehow effective for so far I have not heard or read any news that any gals wearing tudong are raped and molested.

Thats exactly what i heard too. Incest too! The tudong breaks their feminine shape hence reduced the desires.
But nowadays those 3gp clips which can easily found online, has girls with tudongs offering themselves to their bfs! Lol...
