yo!
somehow recently i feel like taking up some fighting skills...
my purpose is to exercise, like having a fighting art as sports... cuz there are many times i feel like executing some moves... but i know none haha!
of cuz taiji would not suit my purpose... i prefer some fast fighting moves using hand and leg... so boxing would most probably be out... leg would means kicking these all...
i know these sports are a bit dangerous... also i do not want to really get injured.. so i am thinking wat style should i take... i understand that taking these fighting as sports will always result in injuries.. but i want minimal ones, not those hardcore fighting art used for killing..
furthermore, i know nothing about all these, can someone tell me how much does it cost to learn and where, wats the age to take up these? practise how many times a week? is it effective in terms of sports? like is it more exhausting to play basketball than taking up these? how dangerous are these?
really hope someone would tell more more bout these thanks!

You're looking for a fighting sport that is based on speed, uses punches and kicks, and is safe to practise? Sounds like modern Mixed Martial Arts would be right up your alley. Depending on the intensity of the class you choose, you might suffer no more than the occasional bruise.
Taekwondo's generally very safe too, though accidents can of course happen. It's also very cheap if you practise at a CC.
If you want some nice unarmed and weapon work, you could check out Filipino Kali/Escrima/Arnis (all three names refer to basically the same thing).

Yes, of course martial art can be treated as a sports for those who dislike jogging or swimming as exercise, taking up martial art can be an alternative.
Actually I am into silat and freestyle tournament. Recently, I have successfully organised a freestyle martial art tournament, that not only allows all practitioner of martial art to converge even those with no formal martial art background can enter.
The rule of the tournament follows loosely sports silat sparring but some of it is customised
you can view the tournament via the following link

after that there are 3 more parts to the tournament. Enjoy... and then tell me what you think about it...

I do not know exactly what you mean... but you have just describe the kind of martial art that I am now giving instruction to... you can check us out thru this link...
Man, the tourney looked like fun! What were the rules again?
