A very wealthy Jewish man become sick and checks into the hospital. The doctors’ prognosis is not good.
His rabbi comes to visit him. The man begs the Rabbi to pray for him. He promise to donate two million dollars to the synagogue if he gets well.
The Rabbi asks the congregation in his synagogue to pray for the man to get well.
Two weeks later, the astonished doctors give the man a clean bill of health and he is discharged from the hospital.
Another two days later, the Rabbi comes to the man’s house to congratulate him on his speedy recovery and to remind him of his promise to donate two million dollars to the synagogue.
“Gee, I must have been very sick!” the man says.
