SINGAPORE - The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) and the Health
Sciences Authority hope to increase the number of youth donors to 35 per
cent by 2014.
Youths aged 16 to 25 currently make up about 30 per cent of the donor population.
The plan to increase the number was revealed at Friday's official
opening of a new satellite blood centre at Dhoby Xchange.
The SRC said it would work with youth groups from the educational
institutions surrounding the new centre to attract more youths to donate
blood.
They will also collaborate to organise road shows and other forms of outreach.
The new centre at Dhoby Ghaut is targeted at both students in the area and workers from nearby offices.
