Recently I've been having these short sharp pains in my lower back especially when I'm walking.... it just comes suddenly and goes awhile in a short while... and I'll have problems standing upright and have to press my back in order to suppress e pain..
i've had problems with my back in e past also.. like when i wake up after i slp, my back aches and feels very 'stiff'. is this normal..? or due to bad posture? does anyone have any advice on how i can stop/reduce these back pains...
sounds like a muscle/nerve prob to me. it's best if u see a doctor or physician about ur back. in e meantime, u can either check for back exercises online or go to gym n check wif a gym instructor on exercises to help strengthen ur back. can also try to keep ur back straight at all times, u will be surprised by hw much it helps.
jus google for remedies and specialist services online la
upper or lower back?
lower back.. does e remedy differ for upper n lower back?
perhaps u may have some inflammation in ur back due to sleeping posture, spine rubbing against the nerves etc. Go see a doc and mention about anti-inflammation pills. Don't take painkillers, you won't know if it's really gone.
Hi there,
I have a similar back injury though mine was due to an accident I had when I was a kid. I fractured my lower back then, and due to that, I had a tough time keeping my posture right.
Nowadays, I can't lie down flat on my back without feeling discomfort and some times, pain at the lower back, approximately the 5th bone from the lower spinal region. It takes me about 10-15 minutes to let the lower back muscles relax before I can lie flat on my back to sleep. Otherwise, I usually just sleep on my side.
Any suggestions or recommendations regarding this?
Thank you guys for your time on this.
i had upper back pain n wen for physiotherapy n they taught some exercise therapy
lower bak pain could be slip dics?
or u can also try specialist services like APOS Therapy. my uncle fell and injured his back in 2009 and had to take pain killers on a constant basis as the pain grew unbearable till his colleague suggested APOS sometime last year. think they help in some muscle adjustment thingy so the pain will be reduced when they walk. and he didn't seem to be in pain when i saw him last christmas.
this is their website if ur interested http://www.apos.com.sg/index.php . Apparently they have an openhouse on Jan 16, so u can check tt out if ur free and see if they have appropriate treatment for ur back probs.

i hope its not slip discs though... jus hope my back aches is due to some minor issues.. anyway, how long did your physiotherapy last for? and does your back still hurt to this day or has it recovered fully?
some symptoms of slipped disc/bulging discs.
pain in back while walking.
random sudden numbness in leg/legs.
you can look for a chiropractor, but from what i heard from friends, basically they tie you to a rack where they pull your upper body and lower body, essentially stretching your spine so to relieve pressure on your spinal discs.
apparently, it does help in their back pain, but its only temporary. the spine will slowly revert back to its tensed-up posture, and the back pains will be back. not to mention that the chiro sessions are not cheap.

i've thought of chiropractic before but their 'bone-cracking' treatment kind of scares me a little .. and i need something that helps permanently .. thanks for your suggestion deathmaster
Hi Ms. Jism,
I also heard about APOS that ahkaizz mentioned about. I read an article about it in Asiaone Health the other day.

I heard that they will be holding an open house at their Center (Camden Medical) on March 13th. One of the founders, Dr. Avi Elabaz, will be there, so you could probably pose any questions and gather more information there if you are interested.Their site might have more details about that.

don't play play when it comes to back problem. quickly see a doc bah
Yeah.. I will see a doctor soon.. have just been so caught up with work that I haven't found the time.. sigh.. any other recommendations for back pain problems ppl?
Has anyone tried APOS yet or know anyone who has? How effective is it?
yo, go for a X ray
Yeah la maybe wanna get an X-Ray done. As far as APOS goes, I haven't tried it myself, but people tell me it works surprisingly well. Personally, I'd rather go for the APOS therapy than go through a painful surgery and long recovery.
I heard good things about APOS too. They seem to have strong support in the medical community as well. Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery had an article about them Volume 90-B if anyone's interested.
