Recently I've discovered a bubbly like blister under my lower inner lips. I thought its just normal ulcer so I didn't really bother about it. But after 2 week or so, It slowly deform and become somewhat like a bump. And after some searching over the Internet I've found something which matches my case which is the Mucocele. The Mucocele - An oral mucocele, also referred to as mucus extravasation phenomenon, is a swelling of connective tissue consisting of collected mucin from a ruptured salivary gland duct, which is usually caused by local trauma. The mucocele is a bluish translucent color, and is more commonly found in children and young adults.(extracted from wikipedia).
Now my question is, have anyone have this Mucocele before? How long did it take before it went away and what are the alternatives to get this remove(medication, surgery).
Please help me out. Thanks.
Mucocoele is common and usualy people simply de-roof it (ie. pierce it with a pin). If it is large or complicated by rupture with inflammatory reaction to it, a surgeon can easily excise it.
