Cells need to manufacture things like fats, lipids and proteins, for needs within the cell as well as the organism to which the cell belongs. (question from school worksheet)
I know how the fats and lipids are formed. But how are proteins formed? Reading an article about glycosylation, which talks about how proteins are formed. But saccharides have no N-link, how on earth can proteins be formed? Or I misinterpreted?

If you are arrogant enough to think there is no need, no matter what people say on the importance of it, you will think there is still no need.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:In view of the recent avain flu, my father keeps us asking us to flu vaccination but I always never go. I feel that it is of no use because flu strains are mutating all the time. I don't see how they can protect us against bird flu or even the normal flu if they are mutating. Is there really a need for this?
But it makes no sense to keep taking the different flu vaccinations just to be immuned to them. They are not cheap either.Originally posted by alexkusu:If you are arrogant enough to think there is no need, no matter what people say on the importance of it, you will think there is still no need.
Just buy Tamiflu.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:But it makes no sense to keep taking the different flu vaccinations just to be immuned to them. They are not cheap either.

Do you know where is the local pharmacy or hospital?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I don't know where to buy.
I have no sense of directions, so the answer is no. I know local hospitals, but I don't know how to go to these places.Originally posted by alexkusu:Do you know where is the local pharmacy or hospital?

It's rather hard to tell... do you have any recent sexual contact before?Originally posted by depressed:Hi doctor. Lately , i think its the foreskin/not entire part of my p*nis start to get very itchy/altho not painful and i have to scratch it every now and then. Even after putting a lot of medicated oil on it i still find it very itchy. I continue to put more medicated oil. After some time the itch stops but the next day at night the same thing happen again until it reaches another time before the itch subside. I dunno if the medicated oil have anything to do with it and for some reason the itch stops at the afternoon on both days. I don't feel like seeing a doctor(no money and a bit embarassing altho i might if the itch refuses to go off after a week). Do you think this kind of itch will go off after a few days or a week?
Hi Evening dearOriginally posted by renorenal:It's rather hard to tell... do you have any recent sexual contact before?
Are you a diabetic? Are you an asthmatic on oral or inhaled steroids? Are you having any itch besides the area you mentioned, such as the groin creases? What do you think may have caused it? Any triggering factors or relieving factors?

Hi Evening dear
i need some advice from you. Happen this way, my sis in law is expecting her first baby in her 4th mth now. Last week in an medical appt she was told by the doctor she has an 'Cyst' above the womb. As what the doctor say there will be no harm done to the baby.
But wouldn't the medication given during operations harm the baby ??
My sis in law is afraid the medication might harm the baby, while the cyst is growing in size at a fast speed. Thus need to remove asap.
Her idea is if the all event would hurt the baby she is willing to terminate the pregnancy.. which of coz she is upset also..
Haiz... so much things happen...
All sorts of stresses, be it mentally or physically (your health) can aggravate the symptoms of how you respond to it.Originally posted by DriftingGuy:Hey doc reno.. you still remember telling me that Globus Pharyngus might be the reason why I have that uncomfortable feeling in my throat?
Anyway I am having "flu-like" symptoms as well like sneezing 5 - 6 times, wet nose flooding with liquid and its making my throat feel worse than ever...
And I have seen doctors in the past for allergies before. They prescribed expensive nasal sprays and meds.. which I stopped after a while as they are expensive and only temporary..
The strange thing is... its on and off. I get it early morning to noon than I alleviate it with herbal tea and now I am feeling alright except that my throat discomfort is all that remains..
So the question is:
1)Is my throat discomfort related to my allergy? I still dunno what I am allergic although I am allergic to dust mite etc
2)Or do I simply have BOTH globus pharyngus and flu? And these the flu makes my globus pharyngus worse?
3)Is there any short term medication for globus pharyngus? I mean beside trying to relax etc... since my globus pharyngus only comes during stressful exam periods
Sorry for the long post !!
right now no medication given. tomorrow having another round of appt.Originally posted by renorenal:Hello dear
Wow, seems like this is a case of a mix gynaecology and obstetrics... alright, there are various types of 'cyst' that may grow during pregnancy, it can be coming from the ovaries (upper), or the uterus (upper, side or lower) per se, and even the cervix (lower part).
With such cysts, medications may be used and they are rather more hormonal and are targeted to control the growth rate of the cyst and not the baby. However there are a certain amount of it which may pass through the placenta if the medications are used.
Surgery is vital if the cyst is obstructing the passageway of the baby to come out during delivery and may subject the mother to an unnatural approach of delivery, caesarean section, which is even more traumatic and life-threatening (though due to the increasing success, one takes that C-section may be the answer out).
May I know what medication that your sis-in-law is taking?
Ok. Unfortunately I have make friends with all kinds of stresses.Originally posted by renorenal:All sorts of stresses, be it mentally or physically (your health) can aggravate the symptoms of how you respond to it.
Tell me more about this flu like symptoms, did you have it over a long period of time, then it ceases, only to come back again and last as long as the first episode?
There are medications, but they are tranquilizers to keep you calm down whenever you feel tight, though it is not the primary answer to your cure...
you need a chill pill... relax dude... often enough our immune system will crash when we are stressed out and the commonest infection that we often get would be the common cold and flu, sometimes even fungal infection on our skin...Originally posted by DriftingGuy:Ok. For the sneezing, I have it on every morning... usually 5 - 10 minutes after I woke up and bathe etc. But this is normal to me, and I usually dont need to wipe my nose.
Then there was a period of time when I didnt sneeze that much. And my throat problem also vanished. It was really great then and I sort of took that period for granted..
Now its all back... like a recurring nightmare. And its even worse now since I sleep less while mugging for exams
ya la...Originally posted by renorenal:you need a chill pill... relax dude... often enough our immune system will crash when we are stressed out and the commonest infection that we often get would be the common cold and flu, sometimes even fungal infection on our skin...
